Okay, so a cute doctor emailed me the other day. After a couple of emails he asked for my number and I stupidly thinking what could be the harm gave it to him.

The next day he called me while I was on my lunch hour. We only talked for a few minutes but something about him seemed a bit off. I don’t know. I can’t explain it but I got a bad vibe from him. Anyway so I told him I had to go back to work and he said he would call me later then. I said alright and hung up. So that night he called me FOUR times!!! I didn’t pick up any of his calls. His earlier one creeped me out and I thought after one unreturned call he would get the message. Apparently not…I’m just glad he doesn’t know where I live.

So, let this be a warning to all you single gals, don’t give your number to strangers you meet online too quickly (even if they are a cute doctor.)

Super Hero

So I went out with this guy the other night. He was very nice, opened doors for me, refused to let me split the check, etc. And he totally has the super hero chin. Do you know what I’m talking about? The squared off jaw most prevalent on cartoon versions of Superman or Batman. I know its silly but when I was younger I used to imagine I’d end up with someone with that kind of jaw. But I’ve never actually dated someone who had it.

It’s interesting how the things you look for in men change over the years. When I was 8 I wanted someone with a Superman chin, 13 I wanted anyone who would have me, at 18 I wanted someone kind and friendly, and most recently I’ve wanted someone who makes me laugh, and is really outgoing and comfortable around people. The only problem with my most recent iteration is that men like that tend to always be around lots of people, around lots of women, and are not always the most faithful or willing to commit. Well, I’m starting to think maybe I had it right when I was 8.

Reverse Search

So I just did the reverse search function, which basically finds people who say they are looking for someone like you, and was surprised by the results. It was a lot of 30-40 year old guys with the occasional 20-something smattered in there. And that got me to wondering:

Am I too old for the 25-30 crowd I was hoping to date?

At 24 am I already considered ancient? Or are these 35 year old guys just trying to unrealistically relive their youth? From the time I was 18 I seem to have always dated men in the 24-26 age range. Now that I am in that range do I have to date men in their 30s to find what I’m looking for?

I talked to this guy who is a few years younger than me the other night. He seems nice and we have things in common, but there is this one little thing. He has a 3-year old son. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love kids and I enjoy being around them, but I have never dated anyone with children. Does it make me a bad person that I’m not sure I would date someone with children, or am I just a realistic person given my age and current lifestyle?

Hi All. I am an interactive designer and I just got a job at an online dating site. I joined the site so I could play around with the features and test out the current interactions to see how we could make them better for the users. And I think the only way to really do that is to use the product. So I am going to give this online dating thing a try. I am going to try to approach it in an honest and straight-forward manner as if I was anyone else, but in order to get a real picture of what it is like to be on the site I am not going to tell people straight off that I work for the company.

I am single and while I am not actively seeking out a “relationship”, I do like to date and if I find someone interesting on the site and it goes further, thats fine but my primary focus is research. Am I misleading people by not revealing my full intentions? I don’t think so, but I could see how some might feel that way. What do you think? Also, if anyone has a better name for the blog, let me know, I’m open to suggestions.
